Statement of Faith

The Nicene Creed is the profession of faith which forms the mainstream definition of Christianity, and is used by One Heart One Voice.

WE BELIEVE in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.

For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary,
and was made man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come.

Amen.

The above creed is called ‘Nicene’ because, in its original form, it was adopted in the city of Nicaea (present day Iznik in Turkey) by the first ecumenical council, which met there in the year 325 AD.

By engaging with the One Heart One Voice network, you are agreeing to our Statement of Faith and Membership Terms.

The core aim of One Heart One Voice is to facilitate the unity of Christian Leadership in the Doncaster area and to genuinely celebrate the diversity of the Christian Church.

The One Heart One Voice network is about connecting Christian Leaders right across the borough of Doncaster and is open to those who hold a senior or strategic leadership role within their Church or Christian Ministry.

The emphasis of One Heart One Voice is based upon agreement, it is about participating in a fellowship of sharing and solidarity, supporting other members in their needs and struggles and celebrating with them their joys and hopes.

The focus of One Heart One Voice is always centered around areas where the church agrees, and therefore One Heart One Voice will not support events, campaigns or email broadcasts, related to areas where the church is clearly divided in opinion.

It is our priority to nurture concrete opportunities for shared prayer while respecting the limitations imposed by specific traditions. Since 1998, Ministers and Church Leaders from across the Borough, have gathered each week to pray regularly for Doncaster, with the following as their focus:

  • Commitment to pray for the town
  • Commitment to pray for each other
  • Commitment to developing relationships

If you are a Church Minister, or hold a position of Senior Leadership within your church or Christian organisation, then please do join us each Wednesday at 7.00am for prayer, followed by an optional breakfast.
